Direction for use of powder coatings

If the powder coatings you used are not our products, or although they are our products, the colors or varieties are different. You need clean the construction equipment thoroughly before use to avoid paint film defects or color inconsistencies caused by powder mixing or pollution.

1. Construction equipment and construction environment must be kept clean to avoid dust mixed into and particles appeared on the surface of the workpiece.

2. Before the use of recycled powder, it must be filtered by 140 mesh.

3. The coated workpiece must be thoroughly removed from the oil and rust, so as to remove the residual acid on the phosphating film and not to affect adhesion.

4. It is recommended that the electrostatic film voltage be adjusted in the range of 50 to 90KV. The powder pressure is between 0.5 and 1.5kg/cm, and the distance between the nozzle and the workpiece is between 150 mm and 300mm.

5. The curing time is  20 minutes under the workpiece temperature between 180~190 ℃. Otherwise, the physical and mechanical properties of the film will be affected. (indoor type 180 ℃ /20 minutes, outdoor type 190 ℃ /20 minutes) 

6. It is necessary to ensure good ventilation and grounding of construction equipment in order to reduce dust pollution and ensure the safety of construction personnel.

7. This product should be stored in a dry and ventilated place below 45℃. Tighten the packing bag after use to avoid dust and moisture entering.


Common problems and solutions in flame plating process


One. Insufficient gloss

1. Baking time is too long during the time of curing. 

2. The temperature is too high. 

3. The oven is mixed with harmful gases. 

4. The working surface is too rough. 

5. The pretreatment processing method is not well chosen.


Two. Film discoloration

1. Repeated baking. 

2. The oven is mixed with other gases. 

3. Over baking during the time of curing curing.

4. The thickness of the coating is too thick.


Three. Peel off on the surface of the coating.

1. The thickness of the sprayed coating is uneven. 

2. The powder atomization degree is not good, the spray gun has the phenomenon of accumulating powder.

3. The curing temperature is low.

4. Powder is affected by moisture and powder particles are too thick. 

5. The grounding of work condition is bad. 

6. The baking temperature is too high. 

7. The coating is too thin.


Four. Shrinkage phenomenon occurred on the film.

1. The surface treatment of the workpiece is improper so that the oil is not thoroughly removed.

2. The air source is polluted, and the oil and water removal of compressed air are not thorough.

3. The surface of workpiece is not smooth.

4. Spraying equipment is not thoroughly cleaned because of dust or other impurities pollution.


Five. Bubbles appear on film

1. After the surface is treated, the moisture is not thoroughly dried so that the residual before treatment liquid left is left.

2. The degreasing and rust removal is not thorough. 

3. The volatiles at the bottom are not completely removed. 

4. Stomata appear on the surface of the workpiece.

5. The powder coating is too thick.


Six. The film is non-uniform

1. Powder spray is non-uniform. 

2. The distance between the spray gun and the workpiece is too close. 

3. High voltage output is instability.


Seven. The impact strength and adhesion of film are poor.

1. The phosphating film is too thick. 

2. The curing temperature is too low and the time is too short, so the curing is incomplete. 

3. The bottom metal has not been cleaned thoroughly. 

4. The adhesion decreases when the workpiece is immersed in water.


Eight. The film produced pinholes.

1. The air contains foreign matter and remains oil pollution.

2. The spray gun voltage is too high and the film is broken.

3. The distance between the spray gun and the workpiece is too close and the coating is broken.

4. The film is too thin.

5. The film is not fully cured.


Nine. Small particles of lump appeared on the surface of the film.

1. The gun or airflow is blocked. 

2. The atomizing effect of the spray gun is not good.

3. Powder is dripping in the powder room.

4. Other objects pollute the surface of the workpiece.


Ten. Coating shedding

1. The surface treatment of the workpiece is improper so that the oil and rust is not thoroughly removed.

2. The output voltage of high voltage electrostatic generator is under voltage.

3. The grounding of work condition is bad.

4. Air pressure is too high in dusting. 


Eleven. The physical and mechanical properties of film is poor.

1. The curing temperature is too low. The time is too short or the curing condition is not reached.

2. The temperature difference between upper, middle and lower positions of curing oven is large.

3. The pretreatment processing of workpiece is improper. 


Twelve. The corrosion resistance of the film is poor.

1. Curing is not enough.

2. The oven temperature is uneven and the temperature difference is large.

3. The pretreatment processing of workpiece is improper.


Thirteen. The supply of powder is uneven.

1. The powder pipe or powder spraying pipe is blocked, and the powder adhered and hardened at the nozzle.

2. The pressure of the air is underpressure and the pressure is unstable.

3. The air compressor is mixed with oil or water.

4. The fluidization of the powder feeder is unstable and the powder supply powder is too little.

5. The powder supply pipe is too long, and the resistance increases when the powder flows.


Fourteen. The powder will fly and the adsorbability of the powder will be poor.

1. The electrostatic generator can not generate high voltage or the lack of high pressure.

2. The grounding of work condition is bad.

3. The air pressure is too high.

4. The duct is blocked in the recovery device.

5. Pretreatment can not meet the requirements or rust again after treatment.


Fifteen. The amount of powder spraying is decreasing.

1. The air pressure is insufficient, and the volume of gas is not enough.

2. The air pressure is too high and air ratio in the mixture of powder and air is too high.

3. The air is mixed with vapor and oil contamination.

4. The spray gun head is partially blocked.


Sixteen. The powder volume is uneven and meandered up and down.

1. The powder became caking.

2. Impurities in the powder cause obstruction of the pipeline.

3. The density of powder is large.

4. The air pressure is not stable.

5. The powder supply pipe is partially blocked.


Seventeen. Dusting pipe is blocked.

1. The powder adheres to the wall easily because of the material of the powder spraying tube.

2. The heating of the output tube results in agglomeration of the powder in the tube.

3. The powder conveying pipe is bent and twisted.

4. A larger particle impurity is mixed in the powder.
